Matches Announced For This Show (Keep checking back for more updates)
Hell in a Cell Match Featuring Shawn Michaels as the Special Guest Referee for the Vacant WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton
Rules of the match: The ringside area will be enclosed by a steel cage which has a roof on top of it. The only way to win this match is via pin fall or submission.
Events leading to this match: Minutes after Daniel Bryan won the title at SummerSlam, Randy Orton won the title with the aid of WWE COO Triple H. Triple H feels that it is not good for business if Daniel Bryan was to be the face of the company. Triple H has made life as difficult as possible for Daniel Bryan since then. Daniel Bryan won his rematch against Randy Orton at Night of Champions but had the belt stripped from him by Triple H due to the referee’s fast count. The two men fought again at Battleground but that match ended in a no contest when Big Show interfered. Shawn Michaels is best friends with Triple H and also the man who trained Daniel Bryan.
World Heavyweight Championship: Champion Alberto Del Rio vs. John Cena
Events leading to this match: John Cena’s last match was at SummerSlam, where he lost the WWE Championship to Daniel Bryan. Cena never got his rematch for the title because he had surgery on his arm. This will be his first match since August.
Handicap Hell in a Cell Match: CM Punk vs. Ryback & Paul Heyman
Rules of the match: In addition to the rules of the previously mentioned Hell in a Cell Match, this is a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. CM Punk only has to beat one of his opponents to win this match and they can both be in the ring at the same time.
Events leading to this match: Ryback is being managed by Punk’s former best friend, Paul Heyman. Ryback got involved in the feud between those two men at Night of Champions when he speared Punk through a table which allowed Heyman to pin Punk even though he had both of his hands handcuffed behind his back. At Battleground, Punk took advantage of Heyman’s attempted interference and hit Ryback with a low blow while the referee was distracted to get the win. CM Punk was allowed to make the stipulation for this match after winning a Beat the Clock competition against Ryback.
WWE Tag Team Championships: Champions Cody Rhodes & Goldust vs. Jimmy & Jey Uso vs. Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns
Rules of the match: The first team to score a pin fall or submission wins the titles. The champions do not have to be pinned or submit to lose the titles.
Events leading to this match: Cody and Goldust recently won the titles from Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. However, prior to that match taking place, The Usos won a number one contender’s match. A match between the two challengers took place during the most recent edition of Monday Night RAW to determine which team would get the title shot. Because that match ended in a no contest, both teams will be in this match.
Divas Championship: Champion AJ Lee vs. Brie Bella
Events leading to this match: Brie earned this title rematch by beating the champion in a non-title match.
Intercontinental Championship: Champion Curtis Axel vs. Big E Langston
Events leading to this match: After CM Punk beat Big E, Paul Heyman tried to downplay Punk’s victory but insulted Big E in the process. When Heyman’s charges, Curtis Axel and Ryback tried to double-team Punk, Big E Langston surprised everyone and saved Punk from Heyman’s duo. This match will be airing during the Kickoff special for this event which will stream on WWE.com 30 minutes prior to the start of the pay-per-view.
